Kronborg was originally designed as a castle with only three wings, but when Frederick II’s wife Queen Sophie wanted to go to parties without getting her feet wet, a further wing was added. For the king loved the queen very much. The queen and her ladies-in-waiting, of course, had to make their way from the queen's apartments in the north wing to the Ballroom and The Castle Chapel in the south wing without having to worry about the weather.
